Department of Medical Microbiology Students Conduct a Cancer-Awareness Lecture at Bnar Primary Mixed School

On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, fourth-year students from the Department of Medical Microbiology at Cihan University–Erbil visited Bnar Primary Mixed School in Erbil to deliver a cancer-awareness lecture. The students were warmly received by the school principal, Miss Sawsan Sherzad Abdulla. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Mahmood Jindal, Lecturer in the Department of Medical Microbiology.

Sahi Hemin Ahmed delivered a presentation entitled “Cancer Awareness.” She highlighted the importance of understanding cancer, raising public awareness, and sharing reliable health information to promote informed attitudes towards cancer prevention and the early recognition of potential warning signs.

Lara Sherwan Abdula Khaliq delivered a presentation entitled “Introduction to Cancer.” She introduced the topic and provided the pupils with basic information about cancer using clear, age-appropriate language.

Together, the presentations introduced the pupils to cancer as an important health topic and emphasized the value of accessible health education in promoting awareness and understanding.

The activity concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which the university students and school pupils discussed the topics presented. The session allowed the pupils to ask questions and clarify key points, further supporting their understanding of cancer awareness and prevention.
