Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Students Visit Apotek Clinic and Pharmacy

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, first-year students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics visited Apotek Clinic and Pharmacy, under the supervision of Dr. Salih Mustafa Salih.

The students were warmly received by Nutritionist Awin Hewa, one of the Department’s outstanding graduates, who guided the visit and introduced the facility’s workflow. The visit focused on enhancing students’ practical understanding of professional dietetics by observing how nutrition services are delivered in a real clinical setting. During the visit, students were introduced to effective client communication, basic case follow-up, and how dietary plans are developed and adjusted to meet individual health needs. Additionally, they received a practical overview of body assessment procedures and participated in demonstrations using specialized equipment for comprehensive body evaluation.

This included working with InBody and Optitect devices for body composition analysis and full-body screening, and learning how such assessments support personalized nutrition planning and healthy dietary interventions. The visit concluded with an interactive discussion, allowing students to ask questions.
