On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, third-year students from the Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies at Cihan University–Erbil carried out a voluntary awareness activity at Erbil Citadel under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Noor Sami Omar.
The activity involved distributing informational leaflets to visitors to the citadel about the importance of regular medical check-ups for disease prevention and early detection. The students engaged with visitors, explained the content of the leaflets, and emphasized the importance of attending regular check-ups rather than waiting for symptoms to appear.
The students also explained the role of radiological imaging technologies in the early detection of diseases. They provided examples, including mammography for breast cancer screening, chest X-rays for assessing chest and lung conditions, bone density measurement (DEXA) for detecting osteoporosis, and computed tomography (CT) for evaluating coronary artery disease.
The activity attracted considerable interest from citizens and visitors to the citadel. Many welcomed the leaflets, listened to the students’ explanations, and asked questions about regular medical check-ups. They also expressed their appreciation for the initiative and praised the students’ efforts to promote health awareness within the community.
The students who participated in the activity were Yousif Sayfullah Jamil, Matin Shukrallah Taha, Zainab Yousif Hasan, Shahad Omar Hussein, Sandi Falah Hasan, and Hajer Ahmed Muhammadamin.
