Faculty of Arts & Letters Celebrates Opening of the Department of Translation

Members of the Faculty of Arts & Letters celebrated on Dec 23rd , 2013 the official launch of the Department of Translation.The cermony was attended by the president of the university and heads of some of the departments.The celebration which was prepared by Dr.Muayyed Juma and Assit.lecturer Mr.Zyad Tariq , shed light on the importance of translation in the modern world.Then, the presenters reviewed the syllabus of the department for the coming four years and highlighted the new courses that will be taught for the first time in Iraq, which are the Contrasting Morphology , Subtitling , Dubbing, Machine Translation, and Localization.

Live music accompanied the celebration during the breaks.Unstable, the band of the English Department, played a number of cover songs and , at the end of the celebration, they performed “why we choose it”, a song written and composed by the band and was dedicated to the English Department.
