Faculty of Arts and Letters Celebrates the Opening of Department of Translation

Members of the Faculty of Arts and Letters celebrated on Dec. 23rd 2013 the official launch of Department of Translation. The ceremony was attended by the president of Cihan University and a number of the heads of departments.The celebration which was prepared and presented by Dr. Muayyed Juma and Asst. Lecturer Mr. Zyad Tariq Rasheed, shed light on the importance of translation in modern world.Then, the presenters reviewed the department`s syllabus for the coming four years to the audience and highlighted the new courses that will be taught in the department for the first time in Iraq, which are Contrastive Morphology, Subtitling, Dubbing, Machine Translation, and Content Translation and Localization.

Live music accompanied the celebration during the breaks.” Unstable”, a department of English students` band, played a number of cover  songs .At the end of the celebration, they  performed “why we choose it”, a song written and composed by the band and was dedicated to English language.
