Media Department Students Launch an Awareness Campaign on Violence Against Women

On Monday, February 9, 2026, students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a campaign titled “Violence Against Women in Society” at the Grand Bazaar of Erbil. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismael Mawlood.

The campaign was led by third-stage students Safin Akram and Ahmed Ziad. The initiative involved distributing awareness brochures to citizens in the heart of Erbil, specifically within the Grand Bazaar and the areas surrounding the historic Erbil Citadel. The brochures focused on identifying various types of violence and methods of protection against the pressures faced by women. They also emphasized the importance of knowing legal rights and contacting relevant authorities when necessary. Another section of the brochure conveyed the message that protecting women’s dignity is a collective social responsibility and a fundamental pillar of a healthy society.

The public received the campaign with great interest and praised the students for their efforts to raise awareness about violence against women.
