Media Department Students Visit the Speda Satellite Channel Office in Duhok
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Department of Media at Cihan University-Erbil organized a field visit to the Duhok office of Speda Satellite Channel for second- and third-year students as part of their scientific and field trip to Duhok. The visit was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim.
At the beginning of the visit, the supervising lecturer and students were warmly received by Mr. Rawan Salim, Public Relations Officer at the Duhok office of Speda Satellite Channel. He expressed his pleasure at receiving the delegation and provided an overview of the office’s operations and activities. He explained how the office delivers timely coverage of news and events across the Badinan region, bringing citizens’ voices and concerns to the screen in a professional and responsible manner. He also highlighted the office’s annual specialized media training courses and workshops for young people and students, which aim to develop skilled journalists and media professionals through academic and practical training.
During the visit, the students toured several key departments within the office. In the video editing section, Mr. Zeravan Hamid Mziri explained the stages of video editing and the techniques used to produce news items and television reports. He also emphasized the importance of modern editing software and the effective integration of audio and visual elements in accordance with professional media standards.
Subsequently, Mr. Doski Sabri, Head of Social Media, explained how television news and stories are adapted into short, engaging content for digital platforms. He also discussed content management strategies and ways to engage audiences across social media networks.
In the dubbing department, Mr. Mevan Sabah, Head of the Dubbing Department, introduced the students to the dubbing process for drama series, feature films, and documentaries. He emphasized that the department prioritizes translating and dubbing productions that respect the culture, ethics, and values of Kurdish society while promoting positive family values.
The students also visited the channel’s broadcast studio, where they observed the lighting arrangements, camera placement, on-camera presentation techniques, and audio engineering equipment used in television broadcasting.
In conclusion, on behalf of the Head of the Media Department, the activity supervisor, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Rawan Salim, the heads of the departments, and all staff members at the Speda Satellite Channel office in Duhok for their warm hospitality and for providing Cihan University-Erbil students with this valuable practical learning opportunity.
