Media Department Students Visit XANI News Agency in Duhok

On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Department of Media at Cihan University-Erbil organized a field visit to XANI News Agency in Duhok for second- and third-year students. The visit was part of their scientific and field trip to the city and was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim. It aimed to provide students with practical insights into news writing, preparation, and dissemination in modern news agencies.

At the beginning of the visit, Mr. Ashti Qasim, Evening Shift Manager at XANI News Agency, warmly welcomed the supervising lecturer and students. He expressed his pleasure at receiving the university delegation and briefly introduced the agency’s mission and role in delivering timely, professional, and up-to-date coverage of local, regional, and international news.

Subsequently, Mr. Mateen Nadir, a writer and journalist at XANI News Agency, explained the various stages of news production. He introduced the students to information-gathering methods, breaking news writing, translation, text editing, and content management across the agency’s official website and social media platforms. He also explained how news content is presented in engaging digital formats. The students actively participated in the session by asking questions and sharing their observations, leading to in-depth discussions on reporting techniques and rapid news writing.
