Medical Biochemical Analysis Students Conduct Health Awareness Activity on the Risks of Fast-Food Consumption
On Tuesday, 10th February 2026, fourth-year students from the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis carried out a health awareness activity at Cihan International School, focusing on educating school students about the health risks associated with fast food consumption. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Lab Assistant Iman Sadiq. The students were warmly welcomed by the school principal, Mr. Mahmood Imad.
During the session, the students delivered an informative seminar explaining what fast food is and why it has become widely consumed, particularly among children and adolescents. They highlighted the high levels of saturated fats, trans fats, salt, sugar, and artificial additives commonly found in fast food, and explained how these components can negatively affect the body when consumed frequently.
The presentation emphasized the short- and long-term health consequences of excessive fast-food intake, including obesity, elevated blood cholesterol levels, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, digestive problems, and an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The students also explained how frequent fast-food consumption can weaken the immune system, reduce concentration, and negatively influence physical growth and energy levels in school-aged children.
In addition, the students discussed the potential impact of fast food on mental well-being, including mood changes, fatigue, and reduced academic performance. They compared fast food with healthier alternatives, encouraging students to choose home-prepared meals, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and adequate water intake.
