Medical Laboratory Analysis Department Students: A Visit to Dr. Nadia Jawdat Cosmetic Center in Erbil

On Monday, October 13, 2025, fourth-year students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Analysis at the College of Applied Sciences, Cihan University–Erbil, visited Dr. Nadia Jawdat Cosmetic Center in Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Sally Khaleel Baqer.

The students were received by Mr. Ziyad Khasro Mikael and Dr. Nadia Jawdat Jabare, who delivered a detailed scientific presentation on the key laboratory investigations required prior to cosmetic surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and readiness for surgery. The presentation covered hematological tests to assess hemoglobin levels and platelet function, virology tests for infectious disease screening, as well as coagulation and blood sugar tests to help prevent intraoperative complications.

The session also addressed the laboratory investigations performed postoperatively in cases of wound infection, including bacterial culture and microbial isolation, followed by antibiotic sensitivity testing to determine the most effective treatment. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to observe practical laboratory procedures and discuss their clinical applications with the center’s specialists.

At the end of the visit, the students expressed their appreciation for the valuable practical experience gained, emphasizing the importance of applied learning in enhancing their professional laboratory skills.
