Participation of the Biomedical Sciences and Nutrition and Dietetics Departments Students in the World Diabetes Day Conference

A group of students from Cihan University – Erbil, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics’ fourth stage, led by the department head, took part in the World Diabetes Day Conference.

Several speeches were given during the conference, which took place on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in the Rotana Hotel, in front of a sizable gathering of physicians, government representatives, and party leaders. The presentations also covered the necessity of treating diabetes as a pandemic.

A special theme of the conference was the treatment of medical food for diabetes, and in this field, students from Cihan University-Erbil’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics gave their opinions and asked questions. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ashti Health Organization, the conference was held at the Rotana Hotel in Erbil. New medical techniques for preventing diabetes were also discussed in various panels.

Also, second-stage Biomedical Sciences Department students of Cihan University – Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturers Hero Ismail and Dr. Sarah Mohammed, took part in the Conference. students actively participated in various capacities, demonstrating their dedication to tackling the global health concern of diabetes.

Throughout the conference, these aspiring healthcare professionals engaged in panel discussions, workshops, and presentations aimed at disseminating up-to-date information on diabetes prevention, treatment modalities, and lifestyle management strategies. Their contributions highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts between academic institutions and healthcare organizations in addressing the multifaceted aspects of diabetes.

The active involvement of these students not only enriched the discourse but also underscored the importance of empowering the next generation of healthcare leaders to combat prevalent health challenges.
