The College of Pharmacy Organized a Scientific Visit to Shar Hospital

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the dean of the College of Pharmacy, organized a scientific visit to Shar Hospital for the first-year students from the College of Pharmacy at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Noor Sami Omar.

The students were welcomed by Dr. Karwan Khasro Ahmed, the Chief Residents Doctor. At Shar Private Hospital, they were divided into groups to observe the techniques of CT scans and X-ray devices. During the visit, they gained valuable insights into CT scans and X-ray medical imaging procedures. They learned how these imaging techniques function, especially in diagnosing diseases and treatment planning. Moreover, they obtained an in-depth understanding of the importance of medical imaging in patient care. This knowledge is useful, especially when dealing with radiopharmaceuticals, managing potential drug interactions, and ensuring patients’ safety regarding radiation exposure.

Additionally, they visited the pharmacy at Shar Hospital, where they comprehended medication distribution in the hospital pharmacies, the process of dispensing medications to patients, and the procedures for storing these medications on the hospital premises. They looked at the patient records and learned about several factors that determine the patient’s dosage such as weight, age, and clinical condition.

At the end of the visit, the students enjoyed participating in such an activity.
