The Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies Organized a Scientific Visit to Luqman Al-Hakim Center
On Sunday, April 28th, 2024, first-stage students from the Radiological Imaging Technologies Department at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Noor Sami Omar, held a scientific visit to Luqman Al-Hakim Center. The objectives of this visit were to enhance students’ understanding of medical imaging techniques and to provide them with an opportunity to observe the principles of working with Computed Tomography (CT) scans and X-ray devices.
The students were welcomed by Mr. Karwan, a specialist in radiography. They were divided into groups and had the opportunity to observe CT scans and X-ray techniques. During their visit to the medical center, they immersed themselves in an environment full of knowledge and innovation. Guided by experienced professionals, they embarked on a journey that delved deep into the intricacies of X-ray technology. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on sessions, students gained a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of X-ray machines, from the generation of electromagnetic radiation to its interaction with matter and the formation of diagnostic images. They witnessed firsthand the meticulous procedures involved in positioning patients, adjusting settings, and ensuring safety protocols were rigorously followed.
Through hands-on demonstrations, students gained insights into the entire CT scanning process, from patient preparation to image reconstruction. They learned about the principles of computed tomography, including X-ray attenuation, data acquisition, and image enhancement techniques. Additionally, they explored the diverse clinical applications of CT imaging, from detecting tumors and assessing trauma to guiding minimally invasive procedures. Through this immersive learning experience, students not only acquire practical skills but also cultivate a deep appreciation for the transformative impact of CT technology on healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
At the end of the visit, the students were excited to have been involved in such an activity.
