Cihan University-Erbil Hosts Enlightening Intellectual Gathering

An intellectual event recently took place at Cihan University-Erbil, organized collaboratively by the Departments of International Relations and Diplomacy, Media, and Translation in conjunction with the University Academy.

     The gathering brought together heads of departments, students, intellectuals, journalists, and writers. Shafiq Haji Khadr, a prolific translator, showcased his latest work—a translation of Tariq Ali’s novel, “The Book of Salahuddin Ayyubi.”

     During the presentation, Khadr underscored the significance of translation in enhancing intellectual and cultural domains. He shared insights into his translation experience and delved into the life of Saladin in detail. Khadr highlighted the novel’s captivating portrayal of the Kurdish leader Salahuddin Ayyubi, encompassing both his military exploits and social life.

     Concluding his presentation, Khadr expressed his hope that his work would resonate with readers, contributing to the enrichment of the Kurdish literary and intellectual landscape. Following the presentation, writers, journalists, and intellectuals actively engaged in the conference, offering their comments and opinions.

     Shafiq Haji Khadr boasts an impressive portfolio, having translated over 25 books from Dutch, English, and Arabic. Additionally, he has authored numerous articles and political research pieces, further establishing his prominence in the field.
