On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, students from the Department of Dental Technology at Gihan University conducted a scientific visit to Zirve Dental Laboratory.
The visit was supervised by Ms. Sozyar Omer Ahmed and aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
The students were warmly received by Dr. Hiwa Salah Mohammed and Dr. Bilal Jawhar Ghazi, who provided scientific explanations and practical demonstrations of the various stages of dental fabrication. The visit allowed students to explore dental laboratory workflows, familiarize themselves with the materials and equipment used in dental prosthetics, and gain firsthand insight into the technical processes involved in producing dental restorations.
During the visit, Dr. Hiwa Salah Mohammed explained the sequential stages of dental fabrication, including mold preparation, construction of the main dental structure, application of powder materials, and final finishing and polishing. He emphasized the importance of each stage in ensuring precision, functionality, and high-quality aesthetic results.
Furthermore, Dr. Bilal Jawhar Ghazi introduced the students to advanced dental laboratory technologies, including computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems, 3D printers, and other specialized equipment. He explained how these technologies are used in modern dental laboratories and highlighted the role of digital workflows in improving accuracy, efficiency, and the quality of dental prostheses.
At the end of the visit, Gihan University and the Department of Dental Technology extended their sincere appreciation to the management of Zirve Dental Laboratory, Dr. Hiwa Salah Mohammed, Dr. Bilal Jawhar Ghazi, and all laboratory staff for their warm hospitality, cooperation, and valuable scientific contributions. Their support helped make the visit a meaningful and successful learning experience for the students.
