Media Department Students Organize a Scientific Activity on Artificial Intelligence at Nishtiman Private Technical Institute
On Tuesday, 20 October 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismail Mawlood, second-year Media Department students at Cihan University–Erbil organised a scientific, awareness-raising activity for first-year students at the Nishtiman Private Technical Institute. The activity consisted of a seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence and Its Effects on Students’ Lives.” At the beginning of the activity, Mr. Kaiwan Jalil Ali, a lecturer at the institute, warmly received the Media Department student team.
Artificial Intelligence and Its Effects on Students’ Lives
The seminar was presented by three second-year students: Fereidun Salar, Razwan Mohammed, and Raman Khalid. In the first part of the seminar, Fereydun discussed artificial intelligence and its role in students’ daily lives. In this context, he explained how artificial intelligence can support studying, learning, and information searches. He also highlighted its benefits in simplifying tasks and developing students’ abilities.
Benefits and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence
In another part of the activity, Fereydun Salar highlighted the benefits and challenges of using artificial intelligence in the educational environment. He also emphasized the importance of using this technology responsibly, relying on credible sources, and verifying the information obtained.
Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence
In the guidelines section, the importance of using artificial intelligence as a tool to support learning, rather than as a replacement for personal thinking and abilities, was explained. The seminar also addressed the need to protect personal information, be aware of errors and inaccurate information, and follow ethical principles when using technology.
Discussion and Conclusion of the Activity
At the end of the activity, two second-year students, Rezwan Mohammed Abdullah and Raman Khalid Qadir, led a discussion and question-and-answer session, during which participants shared their questions and opinions about artificial intelligence and its effects on education and daily life. The activity concluded by emphasizing the importance of the conscious, ethical, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in education.
Finally, the administration of the Nishtiman Private Technical Institute presented certificates of appreciation to the students.
