Students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Analysis Support Cancer Patients Through Charitable Visit
On Saturday 7-2-2026, the 2nd-Stage students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Analysis at Cihan University–Erbil organized a meaningful charitable initiative to support cancer patients, under the supervision of A. L. Narmin A. Ali.
The students collected donations and used them to purchase gifts for children undergoing cancer treatment, bringing smiles, comfort, and emotional support during a challenging time. The remaining funds were donated to the Genetic Department at Nanakali Hospital to support patients’ needs and enhance healthcare services. The students and their supervisor were warmly welcomed by Mr. Shkar Mohammad Taha, the hospital representative, and Mr. Mohammad Asaa Omar, who guided them through different sections of the hospital.
The charitable visit took place on Saturday, 7 February, during which the students and their supervisor personally visited the hospital to deliver the gifts and donations. This visit went beyond financial assistance, conveying a powerful message of hope, solidarity, and care for patients and their families.
The initiative highlighted the students’ empathy, civic responsibility, and strong commitment to community service, reflecting Cihan University’s mission to encourage students to apply their academic knowledge through meaningful real-world actions.
This activity aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by supporting patient care and healthcare services;
- SDG 1: No Poverty, by helping to ease financial burdens on patients and their families;
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening collaboration between the university and healthcare institutions.
