Students of the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis Conduct a Health Awareness Activity at Peshmerga Park

On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, a group of fourth-year students from the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a health awareness activity at Peshmerga Park in Erbil under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hawri Fateh Sami.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Mr. Rewan Ismail Abu Bakr, the park manager, before beginning their planned activities.

At the beginning of the event, students Aya Abdullah Mohammed and Shniar Yousif Hamad Amin provided health information to park visitors and measured their blood glucose levels and blood pressure.

Meanwhile, student Yahya Kaifi Sulaiman calculated visitors’ Body Mass Index (BMI) and conducted blood group tests.

In another part of the activity, students Zahra Bashar Hussein and Hussein Bashar Hussein distributed health awareness leaflets and offered fresh fruit to attendees. They also organized an interactive corner entitled “My Healthy Promise,” where visitors were invited to write personal health commitments, such as maintaining a healthy diet, engaging in regular physical activity, drinking enough water, and quitting smoking. This activity aimed to encourage visitors to adopt positive health habits in their daily lives.

At the end of the event, the students shared additional health information and practical advice with park visitors, encouraging them to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The activity provided students with a practical opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a community setting and strengthen the university’s connection with the local community.
