Students of The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Practiced their Nutritional Assessment Skills

On Thursday November 18, 2021 Fourth stage students of the department of Nutrition and Dietetic, Cihan University- Erbil, visited Shadi hospital. This visit was arranged and conducted by Dr. Behnaz Shahrokhisahneh, a lecturer at department of Nutrition and dietetics, Cihan University-Erbil.

The health care team, including doctors, nurses, and other members of healthcare   system in this center manage the screening for critical health issues. They also offer the outpatient care services to ambulatory patients. Students in primary health care section had opportunity to consulate the pregnant and lactating women, and discuss about their nutritional requirements during pregnancy. Also, the students were privileged to implement their nutrition and dietetics knowledge in real cases. Students confidently practiced the nutritional assessment methods (including weight, height and length measurements, etc.) for children under the age of two years and older person who had come for their regular visit to this center.

They also practiced interpretation of growth charts for infants and children with different ages.
Students found this visit beneficial as a complementary practice to enhance their nutritional assessment, and consultation skills.
