The Biomedical Sciences Department Organized a Scientific Trip to Hawler Medical University for Its First-Stage Students

On May 9, 2023, first-stage students of the Biomedical Sciences Department of Cihan University – Erbil went to the Medical Faculty at Hawler Medical University as part of their Human Anatomy course taken in the current semester.

They went to the different laboratories of the Medical Faculty there under the supervision of their course instructor, Prof. Dr. Merza Hamza with the objective to receive lectures related to the aforementioned course in addition to their common theoretical as well as practical lectures received at Cihan University – Erbil.

The students had direct access to the Physiology Laboratory and Anatomy Laboratory where they received lectures about anatomy and cadaver delivered by one academic staff of the Medical Faculty there. Additional lectures about anatomy and cadaver were also delivered by Prof. Dr. Merza at the Anatomy Laboratory. The students later went to the Anatomy Museum Laboratory where they had the opportunity to look at the cadaver available there. Through the cadaver, the students saw the real bodies, muscles, etc.

Before departing from Hawler Medical University, students provided feedback that their understanding of the Human Anatomy course increased by the end of the day. According to them, they were pleased with the real-life learning opportunity outside the classroom given by their Biomedical Sciences Department for the aforementioned course.
