Upon arrival at the channel’s headquarters, the students and academic delegation were received by Mr. Bilal Ahmed, the channel’s Broadcasting Officer. The visit included an introductory tour during which students learned about the nature of media operations within the institution, the various stages of preparing and producing news and programme content, and the coordination mechanisms between different departments to ensure the quality of media materials presented to the public. They were also introduced to the facilities and technical equipment used in television production, as well as the complementary roles of media professionals and technical staff in producing television programmes and news bulletins.
The visit was informative, as it provided students with an opportunity to explore the operations of the video editing department and the responsibilities of video editors in processing recorded footage and preparing it for television broadcasting. In addition, students learned about the role of the linguistic proofreading department in reviewing media scripts and ensuring their linguistic accuracy and correctness before broadcasting or publication. They also gained insight into the professional aspects of media content production and the importance of accurate wording and carefully selected terminology in conveying media messages clearly and objectively. Throughout the tour, interactive discussions allowed students to raise questions and seek clarification regarding the nature of work in media institutions, including its professional and linguistic requirements.
This was followed by a guided tour of Studios 1 and 2, where students observed the working environment and technical facilities used in television broadcasting.
At the end of the visit, Assistant Lecturer Imad Al-Din and the participating students expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the management and staff of the channel for their warm hospitality, cooperation, and provision of this valuable academic opportunity, which enriched the students’ educational experience and strengthened their knowledge and professional skills in translation and media.
