A New Board Elected for the Iraqi Universities Sports Union with Participation from Cihan University-Erbil

In the presence of representatives from 35 public and private universities across Iraq, the election for the new board members of the Iraqi Universities Sports Union took place in Erbil on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Saeed Ahmed from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences actively participated in the election process as the official representative of Cihan University-Erbil. The process resulted in the election of a new leadership board consisting of 13 members to oversee university sports activities and competitions nationwide.

Cihan University-Erbil is recognized as a key academic supporter of the union’s activities. Its current participation reaffirms the University’s strategic vision of leading national initiatives and providing an optimal environment for students to excel in competitive sports. Furthermore, the union serves as a vital platform for strengthening the ties between higher education institutions in federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region by organizing various annual sports championships and academic athletic events.
