Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Visits Shahidan Healthcare Directorate for Practical Training

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil visited the Shahidan Healthcare Directorate, supervised by A.L. Mohammed M. Hussein.

The students were welcomed by Mr. Sarmand Sardar, Director of the Laboratory Center, who provided an overview of essential laboratory tests in healthcare and nutrition.

During the visit, the students learned about the Complete Blood Count (CBC) test, which helps diagnose blood disorders like anemia and infections, and the lipid profile test, which assesses cholesterol and triglyceride levels, key in clinical nutrition.

They also explored hormone tests and viral diagnostics, understanding how nutrition affects hormone regulation and immune responses.

This visit allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical laboratory experience, enhancing their understanding of clinical diagnostics in nutrition and dietetics. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil remains dedicated to providing such experiences to prepare students for careers in healthcare and nutrition.
