The Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of Cihan University -Erbil visited United Nations

On May 22, 2023, as a part of scientific activities, the third- stage students of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of Cihan University -Erbil visited the United Nations

under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed.

The purpose of the visit was to provide the students with an overview of UNAMI’s work in the Kurdistan Region. Upon arriving, Assistant Lecturer Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed and the third- stage students were welcomed by Dr. Rashwan Salih, Assistant Director of Public Information Department.

Mr. Ricardo Rodriguez, the Director of the UNAMI Regional Office in Erbil, welcomed the students at the UN building. He briefed the students on UNAMI Kurdistan Regional Senior Human Rights Officer Florian Razberger; Elections Officer Asso Kakaei; Media Officer Celia Dudson; United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) Senior Liaison Officer Kerman Abdulkadir., the mission and activities of UNAMI as well as other general issues related to the United Nations, such as political issues, human rights, public affairs, and affairs.

In addition to that, the students were also introduced to the participants in the Special Envoy’s Political Affairs Department emphasized its engagement with political parties and stakeholders, including representatives of minority communities. The Human Rights Department noted a series of seminars on human rights principles it conducted for judiciary, security agencies, and NGOs. The United Nations Mine Action Program (UNMAS) has released an overview of its activities, including areas cleared of explosive remnants of war across Iraq.
